PDAC 2017 Convention Student Program

The world renowned PDAC Convention offers students a unique opportunity to network with industry professionals from all over the world. Last year the Convention attracted over 1,200 students from across Canada, the USA and internationally.

Student Membership

For $19.05/year (plus tax) you can join the PDAC as a student member. This allows you to enjoy all member benefits, cheaper convention registration and the opportunity to qualify for tuition top-up awards at the Convention. To sign up for membership click here.

Volunteer Opportunities

PDAC offers students a unique opportunity to volunteer their time in exchange for a complimentary Student All Access Pass AND a ticket to the Mineral Outlook Luncheon.

Make an impression, build on your knowledge and develop your network with a series of events designed especially for students.  The world renowned PDAC convention offers students a unique opportunity to meet professionals in the industry.

PDAC Convention Travel Fund

PDAC has set up a Convention Travel Fund to help student groups cover the costs of getting to Toronto. Students must be PDAC members in good standing. 
Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. 
Deadline: Feb 3, 2017.

Student Hub

The Student Hub (formerly Student Booth) will be located on Level 800 across from the Trade Show. This new space will host Resume Review sessions, registration for the guided tours of the trade show & investors exchange, and other engagement opportunities for students.

Resumé Review

Sign up onsite at the Student Hub for a consultation with a geoscience professional who will review your resumé and discuss personalized networking techniques. Students are encouraged to bring a copy of their resumé to the session.  Sessions will run from Sunday March 5 – Wednesday March 8.

PDAC-CIM Toronto Branch Guided Tours

The tours are a great way to become acquainted with the 1000+ companies that exhibit in the Trade Show and Investors Exchange. Each tour stop will last approximately 7 minutes and will focus on the exploration and/or production aspects of the company’s projects and career opportunities.

PDAC-NSERC-CMIC-GSM-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium 

PDAC is pleased to partner with the NSERC-CMIC Footprints Network, the Goodman School of Mines, and the Society of Economic Geologists Canada Foundation in sponsoring the Annual Student Minerals Colloquium. This event is hosted by the SEG Student Chapters at Laurentian University and the Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre and will feature 100 poster presentations highlighting current research on mineral deposits and related studies by students from across North America.

Learn about the exciting range of career opportunities in exploration and development from industry experts and take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the Q&A to follow.

Student-Industry Networking Luncheon

The flagship event of the student program; this reception-style buffet luncheon provides an opportunity to make valuable connections with industry professionals and peers. The winner of the Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award will be announced as well as the selected 2017 Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) students. There will be a random draw for five $300 tuition top-up awards. Proof of student membership is required to claim the award.
